This tool is an add-on to the press plates that I carry. It’s used to reduce the distance between the top and bottom plates, so that they can be used as an alternative to a hammer to reduce thickness in seams. They’re also great for crimping edges of leather, etc.

Riser Cap is as described! This fits on top of the Gold Star Press Plates I bought perfectly and adds some depth to reduce the overall distance between the plates. With the riser cap added, the open space between the plates is about 1 1/8″ and with my hand press fully down in the “press” position, the distance between the plates is now just slightly less than 1/4.” The combination of the press plates and riser cap should accommodate everything I plan on doing with these!
