Introducing Colour Me Happy, the tote bag that’s not “just another tote”! It features a large enough interior for a laptop, slip pockets, a zippered interior pocket (with overlay), and best of all, a zippered divider pocket that’s integrated into the lining so nothing can move from one side to the other! There are full instructions, full pattern pieces, and 5 videos that walk you through step by step.
The size is truly to be appreciated. 13” wide, 12” high, and the base is 4” deep.
The exterior has pattern pieces for a pieced exterior that will be a great scrap buster or a great way to show off co-ordinating fabrics, but also has the dimensions for a 2 piece body, and even a 1 piece body. It provides the perfect blank canvas to customize with pockets, embroidery or whatever your imagination can dream up!
Included with the pattern is a BONUS pieced “The Gratitude Wallet” exterior, so you can make a wallet to match your bag. (The Gratitude Wallet pattern not included)
The pattern pieces also come in 2 formats. The regular US Letter size printouts that need to be taped together, and also the “Printshop Version” that can be printed on rolls of 24″ paper.
Pattern rating is Confident Beginner/Intermediate.
Because of the variety of options available with this pattern, it’s difficult to specify the exact yardage of exterior materials. If using leather/cork or vinyl for the Bottom, Exterior Top Band, Interior Top Facing, Zipper Overlay and Handles, approx 4 sq.ft. is needed. If piecing the body, the amount of each fabric will depend on how many colours you choose to use. It’s a great scrap busting project in that regard.
There are variations for the interior of the bag as well. For instance, you may choose to use the exterior materials for the Divider.
If using all fabric for this project, you will need: 1⁄3 yd main body fabric
1 yd contrast fabric
1 yd lining fabric
2 yds woven interfacing
1 yd foam/fusible fleece (can substitute Decovil Light but yardage will depend on width of product)
Small piece of Bag Stiffener, Peltex or Decovil
Hardware:
37-1⁄2” of #5 zipper tape and 3 pulls
or (1) 16” #5 zipper and (2) 12” #5 zippers
